Posted 12:14 PM on Oct 24, 2008

Nashville, Tenn.Corrections Corporation of America’s (CCA) Metro Davidson County Detention Facility in Nashville has successfully completed a reaccreditation audit conducted by the American Correctional Association (ACA). Accreditation by the ACA serves as a “stamp of approval” from the leading national and international authority on correctional standards.

“We are very proud of our team,” says Warden Brian Koehn. “Each of our more than 200 correctional professionals helped make this success possible. In fact, they contribute to the high standards and excellence we seek to embody every day.”

The accreditation process involves a rigorous evaluation of nearly 500 different standards of excellence for correctional institutions, including management and personnel procedures, physical layout, training programs and delivery of inmate programs and services. All CCA facilities are operated according to ACA standards, which are regarded as the highest comprehensive standards for correctional practice in the nation.

ACA auditors will recommend Metro Davidson County Detention Facility for reaccreditation during ACA’s 2009 Winter Conference, which will be held in January in Kissimmee, Fla. The auditors determined the facility to be 100 percent in compliance with all mandatory standards and 99.8 percent in compliance with all non-mandatory standards.

Opened in February 1992, the 1,092-bed Metro Davidson County Detention Facility houses inmates for the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and employs a staff of 243 corrections professionals. Statewide, CCA employs nearly 1,800 professionals and currently provides housing, education, health care and rehabilitative services for approximately 7,500 offenders in Tennessee. Other Tennessee facilities operated by CCA include: Hardeman County Correctional Center (Whiteville, Tenn.), Silverdale Detention Facilities (Chattanooga, Tenn.), South Central Correctional Center (Clifton, Tenn.), West Tennessee Detention Facility (Mason, Tenn.) and Whiteville Correctional Facility (Whiteville, Tenn.). Additionally, Trousdale Correctional Center, a new, 2,040-bed facility, is currently under construction by the company in Trousdale County, in the community of Hartsville.
