Kentucky Prison Receives Perfect Score In Re-Accreditation Audit
Posted 03:31 PM on Sep 22, 2008
Frankfort, Ky. – Lee Adjustment Center (LAC) received a perfect score during its recent re-accreditation process with the American Correctional Association (ACA). The prison received a score of 100% on non-mandatory and mandatory standards.
Audit team members were impressed with the environment at LAC, commenting on the interaction between staff and inmates. The team also praised the prison’s medical department and called the institution’s ACA files “immaculate.”
“The results of the ACA audit reflect a total team effort and I have come to expect nothing less from the Lee Adjustment Center staff,” said Warden Randy Stovall. “I am extremely proud of each and every staff member and in particular Quality Assurance Manager Mitchell Brandenburg. Mitch was very instrumental in creating a transparent and seamless flow of supporting documentation that facilitated and set the tone of the audit team's review process.”
The prison will receive its re-accreditation award during ACA’s winter conference in Orlando. This is the sixth time that LAC has been accredited by ACA.
“A perfect score is no easy feat – it demonstrates a tremendous effort put forth by the men and women who work at Lee Adjustment Center,” said Corrections Commissioner LaDonna Thompson. “I congratulate them on a job well done and I also commend Warden Stovall for this significant achievement.”
ACA consists of over 500 national standards that cover security, operational and programming aspects of a prison and require constant monitoring and quality control checks. Each prison is audited by ACA every three years and has an inter-departmental audit (Program Security Review) every year. Kentucky has been a member of ACA since the early 1980s and all of its prisons are accredited – the 13 state-operated facilities as well as the three contract facilities owned and operated by Corrections Corporation of America.
