Corrections Corporation of America (CCA) Mission Statement

Read first hand here stories and views shared by CCA employees and other citizens on the company and its impact in our communities.

It’s difficult to separate the facts from the reported myths about private prisons and CCA, especially if you follow some news accounts that rely on sources who are politically or professionally biased against the overall privatization of our nation’s prisons.

TheCCA360.com disputes the most common reported myths here.

The Other, Unreported Side, To CCA

From A Letter To The Tennessean Editor (submitted 8/4/08 but not published as of 8/14/08):

"I have enormous respect for Corrections Corporation of America and the service they provide to create a safer community.   Working with incarcerated individuals is no easy task.  Successes rarely make the headlines; we usually hear only about the tragic situations.  Such has been the case for CCA in recent news coverage.

CCA’s commitment to Public Safety is a wonderful asset to Middle Tennessee.   Their work is difficult. Men and women are incarcerated because they have been judged a risk to society, but the days of “lock them up and throw away the key” are, thankfully, over.  CCA offers impressive educational programs like GED, Life and Job Skills, and support groups to eligible inmates.  Inmates must have motivation to change, but CCA has helped our organization see the potential for change in each person.

Our mission was inspired by the high caliber professionals at CCA. Warden Samberg took valuable time in 2002 to meet with our founding team. As he shared the complex needs of incarcerated women, he said, “All our effort will be worth it if just one woman’s life is changed!”

CCA is incredibly generous to area non-profits working with former offenders, including hosting an annual golf tournament providing hundreds of thousands of dollars in support.

The Next Door believes Corrections Corporation of America deserves applause for their outstanding service. We are a better, safer community as a result of CCA’s mission and commitment.

Thank you, CCA.  We are grateful!"

Linda Leathers, CEO The Next Door
